星座能源（Constellation Energy）重啟美國賓夕法尼亞州三哩島核電站一號機組的計劃，併網時間由原定的2027年推遲至2031年。據路透社報道，該公司高層3月在CERAWeek大會上表示，電網營運商PJM通知輸電線路升級工程要到2031年才能完成。

三哩島一號機組發電能力約835兆瓦，2019年因長期虧損停運。2024年9月，星座能源與微軟簽訂為期20年的購電協議，由微軟購入該機組的電力，為其AI及雲端業務供電。該機組將易名為克蘭清潔能源中心（Crane Clean Energy Center）。星座能源計劃投資約16億美元（約125億港元）修復汽輪機、發電機、主變壓器及冷卻與控制系統。協議簽訂時原定2028年重啟，其後曾提前至2027年。協議的財務條款未有公開。

這宗交易的背景，是AI數據中心用電量急升，而風電、光伏受天氣影響，難以提供不間斷電力。核電能全天候供應零碳電力，成為科技企業的選項。不過微軟方面表示，購電目的是抵銷其在PJM電網區域內數據中心的用電量，而非把數據中心建在電站旁。

要留意的是，一號機組與1979年發生部分熔毀事故的二號機組各自獨立，二號機組由另一公司持有，正在退役。一號機組重啟仍須取得美國核能管理委員會（NRC）及州、地方政府的許可。

此次延誤顯示，AI時代的電力瓶頸未必在發電端，而可能在輸電網絡。後續值得追蹤的包括：PJM輸電工程進度、NRC審批進展，以及星座能源的資本開支披露。
