Hong Kong Book Fair 2008 draws the young
Hong Kong - The annual Hong Kong Book Fair kicked yesterday(July, 23 ), with more than 480 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions promoting their books and copyrights during the seven-day book at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The "International Cultural Village" returns this year with more choices of books from 16 different cultures. And for the first time, Spain, the third largest European publishing country, has set up a group pavilion at the fair to respond to growing interest in Asia for learning Spanish.
The book fair has become one of the must-attend summer events for young and families. "Once a general retail event, now a cultural phenomenon, the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair is not only a promotional platform for local publishers and writers, but also the place where readers get to know books representing a myriad of cultures," said Raymond Yip, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC.
A seven-day Hong Kong Book Fair opened yesterday to present, tens of thousands people have been admitted. In addition to buy books, some artists souvenirs and the limited star articles are attractive the young, some of them spent over 3,000 HKD to buy the idol items, including discs, pictures.
There were about 400 fans of local pop-star Theresa Fu Wing, with some having waited up to 44 hours outside the venue so they could be the first to snap up one of the only 5,000 copies available of her latest album .
