HK equestrian team qualifies for Olympics
Hong Kong will have its own representing team to participate in the 2008 Olympic equestrian events in August as four Hong Kong jumping riders - Kenneth Cheng, Samantha Lam, Patrick Lam and Jennifer Lee - have achieved their Olympic minimum eligibility standard at a special qualifier in Hagen, Germany.
Together with the Hong Kong riders, there were three from the Mainland, one from New Zealand and one from Australia who joined the qualifier yesterday.
The five-star level qualifier had fences up to 1.6m high and 2m wide.
Kenneth Cheng was qualified with his Jockey Club sponsored horse Jockey Club Can Do and Felton Lee owned by Raymond Lee. He placed first with Felton Lee in the event. Samantha Lam qualified with her Jockey Club sponsored horse Jockey Club Tresor and Coco. Patrick Lam qualified with Urban while Jennifer Lee qualified with Mr Burns.
